make it RWD with a 3.5 ecoboost as the base and the 5.0 as the top of the line and I'd consider giving my Cadillac bias a 2nd look. I had a 97 mark viii briefly, and It was a decent ride! engine was shit though.

I like the interior of the mark viii but that was about it. And I only like the inter for the funk dash structure.

Seriously can they bring the Cougar back? I don't even care if they call it a cougar, just use the damn RWD chassis! It might be the only way I'll ever give a shit about Lincoln again.

If they come out with a rwd platform I think all of Jalopnik will cheer and celebrate.

Seriously though, the Mustang platform is already profitable and no longer has a stick axle.

Like the someone else already posted, throw in the 3.5EB and a nicer interior with some cleaner sheet metal and they are different cars.

Not only different but a very intriguing and neat alternative option.

to me it's the flat front end, and the height. I mean that well and tire combo is probly 26" tall. Since it's safe to amuse those are at least 20" wheels. And it looks like the top of the hood is at least another 12-14"s above the top of the tire. That means that the hood is sitting at about 40"s tall.

I tried to find a reference point for this but no one really lists "height of hood" in a cars spec sheet lol.

Unfortunately this is just something we're going to have to deal with on newer cars. As side impact safety ratings get more and more strict, the window lines are going to keep getting higher, and in order to keep the proportions looking correct, the rest of the car has to get taller too, and the wheel arches get bigger, and the wheels have to be bigger to fill that arch, and so on...

Well said. The new regulations are making it harder and harder for companies to effectively make a low hood. Disappointing but I guess it protects the stupid pedestrians that don't know how to cross the road.
